His focus is on winning a world championship.
The only difference between the two is that he has not yet won the international title he wants.
If this were an Olympic year, Bergman would enter the competition as the No. 1 rated U.S. freestyle wrestler in his weight class (211.5 pounds) after winning at the U.S. Open and U.S. Team Trials. As it is, he will head to the World Championships in Moscow Sept. 6 to 12 as the alpha dog.
"When I was in junior high, I was scared of high school because the classes were harder," Bergman said. "In high school, college was scary. But you get smarter as you grow and you become a better student.
"Same thing with wrestling. It becomes an expectation when you know what you can do. I want to stay focused on my dream of winning the Olympics and a world championship the next two years. I'm going (to Moscow) to win a championship."
