The Worldâs Home of the Figure 8® crowned champions in two premier divisions on Sunday night September 5. The evening was headlined by the elder statesmen of Speedrome events, the 34th Annual One Hour Figure 8 Endurance Race for the Dadâs Truck & Auto Late Models. This is the traditional contest that settles the coveted series crown. Also putting the finishing touches on their Chase for the Cup title were the Scooterâs Auto Sales Stocks presented by Peters Auto Service. It was a night for the record books. The 1-800-Radiator & AC Roadrunners and Thirsty Turtle Tavern Hornets had a full agenda on racing as well. Here is just the tip of what took place.
The Dadâs Truck & Auto Late Models pulled onto the famous fifth-mile first for qualifications to set the field for the 34th Annual One Hour Figure 8 Endurance Race. The top two in the standings, as they have been all season long, were best in these timed efforts led by Jack Dossey Jr at 17.923 seconds. Mark Tunny was second followed by his dad Bruce and Corey Turner. Corey won the 4-lap trophy dash. Nearly 30 machines were then pushed out to the grid for driver introductions and well wishes by the dignitaries on hand. Former champion racer and division sponsor Dave Duncan from Dadâs Truck & Auto gave the command to start engines. The hunt for the $10,000 title prize was on!
