I am starting to skateboard and I need some knee pads. I am skating in a multi level pool. My friend who is teaching me says that I need knee pads. If you try and fall on your knees you arn't as likely to twist an ankle or worse. So I need to get some knee pads. What would be a good brand. I am planing on beating the hell out of them so the more heavy duty the better.
A: I use Pro-Tec Park Knee pads. They have replaceable caps and are nicely padded. I've landed from 12 feet up to concrete and it just stings a little. They will run about $30 a set. Pro-Tec makes a higher-end pad called the Drop In and they retail for about $75 for the set.
Definitely stay away from the cheap pads from discount stores and toy stores. The only thing they might do is help you from getting a skinned knee.
